C.C. Miller Photography bio picture
  • Yep. I am a photographer. And I definitely never saw it coming when I decided to start a little blog about our family called "Miller Party of Five." Starting the blog made me finally pull out that long forgotten Nikon that my husband bought me for my first Mother's Day. I signed up for a photography class, and I fell in love. I practiced. I took hundreds of pictures of my kids. I posted them on my blog. Before long, people wanted me to take their pictures. So began C.C. Miller Photography.

I am a natural light photographer who loves to have FUN capturing you being YOU. What does that mean? If you want to stand in front of the camera all posed while fake smiling for an hour straight...I am NOT the photographer for you. If you want to have FUN and be yourself and you want me to capture THAT, then count me in.

Yep. I am a photographer, but the most important thing I am or ever will be is a wife and mother. I married my high school sweetheart. We are the epitome of " opposites attract." He is perfect for me in every way...even the ways that absolutely drive me crazy! When we were just kids, we dreamed about marrying each other and having a family. Now we are living that dream together. We are the Miller's, A Party of Five. How would I describe our life? "CRAZY, but nice." What will you find in our blog? A little bit about everything I love most: My Family. My Friends. Photography. Cooking. Planning and Throwing Parties. "Junking" (aka thrift store shopping with my girls). And of course...Some funny stories documenting this crazy little life of ours. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you see something you like. I hope you see something that makes you smile or even laugh. Most of all, I hope you see something that inspires you to pick up your camera and start capturing your life's moments.

First Day of Kindergarten

Well my baby boy started Kindergarten a few weeks ago.  I will have you know that I made it out alive even though I was experiencing some serious Kindergarten Blues in the days and weeks leading up to the actual “big day.”  Here are some pictures from his first day.

Daddy stayed home to take his boy to his first day of school….
All the neighborhood kids met up to get on the bus together…
The hardest part of parenthood by far (yes, even harder than potty training, and we all know how I feel about potty training) ….is giving them wings and letting them fly.  Yes, I cried.  But I didn’t let him see me.

That last picture put a knot in my throat….Not sure i could have done it!! You amaze me!!!

By the way, I have to ask…so what’s in the back packs? I notice the girls have them too. =)

I am sure that was so hard! I still remember my mom crying when she dropped me off and I am amazed you were able to keep them back in front of Easton. Umm, should we not talk about what a heartbreaker he will be?!! He is precious! That cute little smile is too much!

Okay, my heart literally skipped a beat when I saw him climbing onto the bus! I’m proud of you for taking this so well…I’ve been trying to figure out how I can homeschool them without letting Brock know!!! (oh and Easton is totally rockin’ the Zandy Bands!!)

Too precious!! Love the new casa too!

Silhouette Craft

My friend Bethany and I were discussing how much we loved the little black and white silhouettes that you see around now.  She told me about a blog she knew about that had just done a cheaper, homemade version of the silhouettes.  I had just found some vintage frames from a yard sale in Jenks for a whopping $1 each so I thought it would be fun to make my own version of the silhouettes.  And of course, as always…I had some help.

Oh and by the way, I have to tell everyone about this fun new place I found in Jenks!  I don’t know what the name of it is but it is open ONLY the first Monday in Jenks.  If you just drive through downtown Jenks you will see a little store with all kinds of fun stuff pulled out on the sidewalk.  It is right next to Contemperary Tile in downtown Jenks, I believe.  You can also go into the store to look for more treasures.  I found some fun stuff and can’t wait to go back next month!  I used the green pitcher and glasses for display in my glass cabinets in the kitchen.  I will have to do pictures of that some other time.

So here’s how I did my silhouette.  I started with the $1 frames I found at the Jenks Yard Sale.

Then I took a picture of my little momma’s profile and pulled it up on my computer.
I went outside and spray painted my frames with this cool stuff I found at Michael’s that gives it a “pearl” finish.  I just liked the silver better than the gold for what I as doing.  The picture of the little girl was painted by Emmy’s great grandma.  I also wanted to refinish the gold frame it was in.
My little helper and I printed off the picture on cardstock.
Then we cut it out and put it on top of another piece of cardstock to paint it black.
We traced the shape of a frame onto another, clean piece of cardstock and cut it out.  We then modge-podged that cardstock onto backing of the frame.  After letting that dry, we modge-podged the silhouette that we had painted black and let dry, on top of the other cardstock (that we had cut to the shape of the backing of the grame).  I know some people say to use spray adhesive instead of modge-podge but I didn’t have any so I just used what I had and it worked.
The last thing we did was put the backing with the silhouette now on it, back into the frame.
For now I hung it above a little zebra seat in Emmy’s room with her grandma’s painting.  I am wanting to revamp all of this and do a whole wall of vintage pictures/art, etc… instead of just these three pics.  I will have to continue to work on that one though and look for more treasures and things to refinish!  Oh, and the zebra bench was a thrift store find.  I bought it for $40 and it had the ugliest mauve fabric on it.  I found this fun zebra fabric and refinished it.  Unfortunately, there are no before and afters of the bench since Coco threw my iphone into the pool.  The only “before” picture I had was on the poor old iphone which is obviously lost forever now.

YAY! Can’t wait to make one for C’s room.

these turned out so great! such a fun and easy craft, eh?

That’s awesome, Carissa! Thanks for the ideas :)

First Haircuts.

We took Emmy and Cohen to get their first haircuts a week or so ago.  Yes, my daugher is almost 4 and my son is 1 1/2 and they have never had a haircut.  No, not because I am all sentimental about cutting their hair.  Mainly I was just putting it off because I was dreading it.  I DEFINITELY wasn’t going to go by myself with three kids.  Why, you ask?  See pictures below of my youngest child.  That should explain it for you…As for Emmy, her hair is curly so it has never gotten very long.  Well, it was finally time for both of them.  Here’s how it went down….

So excited about the hair cut.  Playing a little peekaboo with daddy.

Still having fun, but not for long.
OK.  The new is starting to wear off here.
Cori, this next picture is for you.  We call it the “80′s feather bangs look.”
And he’s done people.  Poor unsuspecting hairdresser….meet Coco.  I offer my sincerest apologies.  In his defense, you did feather his bangs.  Not cool.  It all went downhill from there.
Daddy to the rescue.
Daddy saves the day with high fives and the bappy (aka pacifier) of course.
Bye-bye little baby curls (sniff, sniff).
Little momma’s turn.
Precious little curls.
A little upset about the hairdresser having to take her glasses off.  Pouty face.
Daddy can’t resist the pouty face.  P.S. – I love this picture.  P.S.S. – I REALLY love this picture.
Cassanova Easton was there too of course so we got him a little trim before his first day of school started.  Is just me or is he five going on fifteen?!!?  He is killing me.  He is going to break my heart, I just know it (which is translated by this psycho mom as “he is going to grow up and get married and leave me some day.”) But for now he is all mine.  So I am going to cherish every minute of it!
Cohen after the cut.  Not too excited about the new do apparently.  One thing is for sure though.  The people at Super Cuts were most definitely excited.  Excited to see us LEAVE that is.  Hopefully we won’t need any more haircuts for awhile.

Jeannie.

I have the most precious grand-babies in the world. Easton is so handsome and Emmy Grace is such a little princess. Cohen is too cute for words, even though mama says he has a temper, I don’t want to believe it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again . . . you have some beautiful kiddos! I didn’t realize that Emmy has never had a haircut. I love the pic of her kissing Mike. So precious!

Missy

Love these pics! =) Especially the one of easton…very cool E! Such a beautiful family!! Haircuts are hard…meaning getting the kids to cooperate and getting the hairdresser to understand and follow through with what you want. They chopped Noah’s hair a little too short.

Katie H.

Funny…This is the exact scenario we had with Lane on the day of his first haircut. I was a wreck trying to find a place that specializes in kiddos (thinking it would ba a good experience)all the while ignoring Mark and his suggestion to use his barber. The haircut was alright, but the experience not so much. NOW we go to the barber Mark suggested from the get go. He is SO awesome with little kids (ours anyway, haven’t seen him cut any other kids). So if you are in need of a reference for next time let me know. Sad how haricuts dramatically change the look of our kids. They look so much older now!!

Gina

Ok….I need to see them IMMEDIATELY! It’s been way too long if a post about haircuts is making me tear up! Let’s get together soon.

Your kiddos melt my heart. Seriously.

Baby B {Sneak Peek}

Oh how I love the “head propped up on the hands” newborn pose.  I have never, I repeat NEVER been able to master it however….UNTIL NOW!  Meet Baby B.  He is my little knight in shining armor.  For one hour straight, this little man let me pose him absolutely any way that I wanted to.  He was absolutely amazing and so were his parents.  They were calm, patient, relaxed, and most importantly, they let me do absolutely anything I wanted to, no matter how crazy it sounded! (P.S. – I love, I repeat, I love people who let me do whatever I want to do, even if it sounds crazy. )  The result = some  pretty adorable newborn pics.  Thank you so much for letting me photograph your little guy!  Can’t wait for more sessions with this precious baby, that is for sure.

I am LOVING the picture of him with his arms crossed. Sooo cute!!

Gorgeous! Makes me wish I could go back in time for a moment to hold my newborn babies.

BILL P. (PA PA)

Artistic Photography! Children’s children are a crown to the aged…You are both blessed.

Pam W. (Gramma)

These pictures are absolutely precious. Love every single one of them! What a beautiful family!

Gina

Love that sweet face! I guess I’m going to have to have another baby so I can have an “propped up on arms” pic. It is adorable!!!

Debra C, "Grammy"

How precious! I am so in love with this beautiful little guy as I know his mom and dad are too. These pictures are very creative and have captured this very special time in this young family’s life. Thank you

Fun Find!

If you are looking for something cheap and fun for around the house, you gotta check these out.  I bought them for $9 at Tuesday Morning.  You can stick them anywhere around the house and write/draw on them with chalk.  I put one in my workroom to write sessions down that I need to edit.  I LOVE to mark things off a list so these work great…when I am done editing a session, I get to pull out a big piece of chalk and draw a nice big line through that session…Ahhh, the sense of completion.  I love it! tt

Then I put these in poor little Coco’s room until I can figure out what the heck I am going to do in there.  For $9 it makes me at least feel like not a total loser mom until I can figure out a theme and finish decorating his room.  Please don’t laugh at my art skills….I did the best I could.  In case you can’t tell due to my elementary drawing ability, that is (from left to right)…a car, an airplane, and a truck.  They match Cohen’s Pottery Barn transportation sheets.

YAY! Crosby is at the top of the list! : )

Looks great. And the artwork isn’t bad, either!
