First Day of Kindergarten

Well my baby boy started Kindergarten a few weeks ago.  I will have you know that I made it out alive even though I was experiencing some serious Kindergarten Blues in the days and weeks leading up to the actual “big day.”  Here are some pictures from his first day.  Daddy stayed home to take...

That last picture put a knot in my throat….Not sure i could have done it!! You amaze me!!!

By the way, I have to ask…so what’s in the back packs? I notice the girls have them too. =)

I am sure that was so hard! I still remember my mom crying when she dropped me off and I am amazed you were able to keep them back in front of Easton. Umm, should we not talk about what a heartbreaker he will be?!! He is precious! That cute little smile is too much!

Okay, my heart literally skipped a beat when I saw him climbing onto the bus! I’m proud of you for taking this so well…I’ve been trying to figure out how I can homeschool them without letting Brock know!!! (oh and Easton is totally rockin’ the Zandy Bands!!)

Too precious!! Love the new casa too!

A day in the life of: Pictures and Car problems

A good friend mentioned that I hadn’t done a blog on “A Day in the Life of….” stories lately.  I told her that it had been awhile since we had “A Day in the Life of” kind of day (surprising, I know, since we just moved).  I should have “knocked on wood.”  Sarah, this one...

I had no clue that you smelled like gasoline… You look great without makeup and I am jealous of how flawless your skin is!! Would you mind emailing me the pics if it’s not too much trouble? Thank you again for staying after and taking them. They are adorable! Hopefully Emmy and Ella can be in the same class again next year.

Summer

Oh, Carissa. Beautiful pictures of sweet Emmy! And, let me just say that I have never seen you look nasty and through all of that, I am sure you were the beautiful, supportive mom in nike running shorts, old hard rock t-shirt and running shoes. I bet Emmy has never seen you more beautiful than the day that you got her to her dance pictures in time for those memories to be made!

bethany

Love the pictures! What little cuties=)

sarah

What a day…thanks for the laugh!

Oh Carissa!! You did not even smell, I promise. It was so nice of you to stay and take pictures anyway, but ESPECIALLY after all of that!

OMG! This story sounds so familiar! I feel your pain and am not sure how you do it with 3! I have 2 and feel so stressed sometimes it isn’t even funny! I will say that after having my husband Joe stay home with the kids and take over all parenting duties I feel refreshed! So glad she made it to pictures! Haley has hers next week! GOOD JOB MOM!!

operation coco’s birthday party is in effect.

That’s right people.  Operation throw Coco a birthday party is in effect.  I have less than 24 hours to turn this pile of craziness in to  a “Fabulous First” celebration  for my baby boy.  So what am I doing rather than getting started?  I am stalling and writing this blog  because I am looking at...

I still remember 1 year old Easton dressed up in his outfit and then you taking off his outer shirt to reveal the t-shirt underneath announcing that he would be a ‘big brother’ before he turned 2:)

I remember E’s first! Have a great time – I am sure it will be a fantastic party=) Can’t wait to see your pics from it!

A Boy and his sippy cup.

He is SO STINKING CUTE! I love how his blue eyes shine, even when he’s sad. I hope that the sippy cup transition will soon be a happy one. You might try a sippy cup with a straw. Owen did much better with those at first.

Kristen

OH the Nuby cup…weaning Lauren from nursing…no biggie…weaning her off the binkie…no biggie…but the Nuby cup-OMG!!!! I waited until she was a week shy of 4..uh uh, thats right…do not tell her dentist.

Missy

he is so cute!!! Love the big blue eyes!! Noah still won’t take a sippy cup to go to sleep but i’m working on it! We have tried all kinds of sippy cups and Noah seems to like the Gerber ones. They are wide at the bottom and narrow in the middle and are wide at the top. They are one of the few I have found that don’t actually leak when they throw them from the high chair 100 times! This is such a cute post!

katy

Berkley was the same way when I tried to give her a sippy cup, to the point that she wouldn’t really drink at all!! Then someone recommended one with a straw and it changed everything!!! Not sure if that will work with sweet Cohen, but it might be worth a try. And don’t worry in the process of finding “the sippy cup” I think I spent close to a small fortune.

Pirate Princesses are pretty.

Check out our new “Pirate Princess.”  What’s that saying….”When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade??”  I think that is how it goes.  Well…when life gives your daughter an eye patch that she has to wear for two months straight because her vision in one eye is deteriorating and the doctor is hoping to strengthen it...

Carissa I LOVE THIS! What a sweetheart! I could not get this out of my mind when I was trying to write a paper for a class, and I ended up writing a short story inspired by your post! I’ll have to send it to you :o ) I love that you are so encouraging to your kids and that you share that encouragement with your blog readers!

Carissa, I’ve been wanting to comment on this post since I saw it last week on my phone. It’s much easier to comment via a computer, imagine that!

Your litle pirate princess is just beautiful! I showed her pics to Owen today and he said that he likes her “pirate patch”. I told him that he will have to tell her that he likes it the next time he sees her. He thinks she’s beautiful and cool now!

Your strength in times like this is a testament to your character. I will be praying that her eye gets stronger over the next few months. Love you guys.

Missy

She is the prettiest pirate princess ever!!!

Katie H.

I SO needed this! Your strength gives me hope within my own situation with my son. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You and that is by far the cutest little gal I have EVER seen and she is on my prayer list!

mandy

what a gorgeous pirate princess! absolutely beautiful! love her, and her sweet face! i love the confindence you are instilling in her while also giving her the voice to tell all those who don’t quite get it where to shove it!!! girl power!

Allison

Carissa, I totally feel her pain! When I was her age, maybe a little older, I had to wear an eye patch. It was awful. I would go over to my friends house just so I could take it off and not have to wear it (my mom was not happy about that). However, when I wore an eye patch, it definitely wasn’t as fashionable as hers. I had to also do eye exercises. It’s not fun, but it will pass. I now have perfect vision. Hang in there.

Summer

Carissa, I’m gonna have to just say DITTO to Whitney’s comment. She said it perfectly! Just what I was thinking. We will be praying for the beautiful pirate princess and her eyes, too! Love you!

Whitney Barth

Carissa! You made me cry this morning. Such an awesome post. So thankful that God gives us the words for our kids when we ourselves feel 2 inches tall and don’t know how to fix it. There have been so many times when I have thought, “Ok, God, I’m not really ready to be this kind of grown-up. I don’t know how to handle this!” And yet, He never fails to help me thru it! You are an awesome mom, and an inspirational woman! Thanks for your post this morning! Hope today is another great day with your Pirate Princess. Praying that her eye starts getting stronger thru this. :)
